Baby Nursery

Hey, Guys! I thought I’ll get on the blog as we are nearing the end of this pregnancy and share with you a pregnancy update. I am 37 weeks and at times I love being pregnant and want him to cook as long as possible, while at other times I’m so over this pregnancy thing. Ultimately, I’m just grateful to God that everything has been going so smoothly. Over the past month as we quickly approach labor I have been writing birth affirmations and prayers to get me through labor and I feel like I am mentally prepared, not so much physically. (If you have any for us, please leave them in the comments) I have so much peace about this birthing process and I know that God has a perfect plan to bring Camden into this world, I’m just so happy that Justin and I are apart of the story, so whatever way God chooses, I’m happy with that.

Anyway, I really wanted to show you all our nursery.  Justin and I had the time of our lives in this space and we hope Cam loves it. Just to give you a little back story, I was reading that for the first 5 months of life that babies only see shades of gray and high contrast colors like black and white.  These colors really stimulate the baby’s eyesight and development. So I took that and ran with it.

We live in a restored Mill Loft and love the industrial look the apartment has, so it gives this nursery a sophisticated look. We also didn’t want to baby-tize it too much because it also serves as our guest room, so if you come to visit you also win a free night stay with a baby.. lol just kidding… but not really though! We have been getting little by little throughout the pregnancy so it wouldn’t be so overwhelming, plus so many people have been so generous and gifted us many things in his room. (If you're reading this on your phone, scroll down for pictures)

So this is the accent wall that I am absolutely in love with. Like I mentioned we are in a rental, and although we are allowed to paint, I didn’t want to change too much because we have to paint it back when we move out. These triangles are actually vinyl sticker decals that are easily removable. I got about 100 for $40 from Etsy. The only tools we used were a leveler and a ruler in the beginning. It took about an hour and to get them all up.

This is the completed wall. I knew I wanted to break up all the triangles but I honestly was not sure how.  I accumulated a lot of random black and white pieces that I wasn’t sure where they were going to go but they all came together. I got the zebra head from Target and the “hello world” sign from Hobby Lobby. The other signs I printed or collected from somewhere.

I love this crib that my Mother-in-Love gifted us. It is one of my fav items in the room. We put a Secure Beginnings mattress in it. Totally Google it! It's really cool and completely breathable.

I found this rug on urban outfitters. It’s a flat woven rug but the price wasn’t bad so I thought it would be fun in here. When it arrived, I was on the fence because it looked navy but the longer it sat the darker it became, so I decided to keep it.  Our last addition was this Tee-pee. I know Cam is just an infant but we thought it would be fun when he starts crawling and playing. It was too cute to pass up and it was on sale at Hobby Lobby so why not. (Lol)

When we moved in this room was originally our office space, so we decided to paint the wall with chalkboard paint and then we found out we were expecting. Although the purpose of the room changed the chalkboard works well in the space. His dresser is actually a buffet cabinet that I made into a dresser/changing table.

Our Guest bed/sofa and sitting section. I also got these cool shelves for free in Springfield, MO at a flea market and hung them upside down. I think it gives it more character. Lastly, we found this chalkboard Baby Decal at Hobby Lobby.

As you can probably tell this is our favorite room in the house. It has such a peace and serenity in it. I know God resides in those walls. This has been my prayer and meditation room and the place I go to talk to him. We anointed it and I can't wait to bring our sweet baby home. I know he just an infant and when he grows he will have his own style but for now we will enjoy every second.

Thanks for going on this journey with us! We would love for you to pray for us as we embark on this birthing process, Please leave any prayers or birth affirmations in the comments.

I know that God has a perfect plan to bring Camden into this world, I’m just so happy that Justin and I are apart of the story, so whatever way God chooses, I’m happy with that.
